Phuket is known worldwide as one of the most popular destinations in Southeast Asia. With its sandy beaches, refreshing waters and exotic mountains, it is an idyllic backdrop for those who are tempted by a round of golf in Phuket.

A Round Of Golf In Phuket Just Off The Plane?

Located a stone's throw from Phuket International Airport, the Blue Canyon Country Club was founded in 1991. Phuket's mining past has given way to water obstacles and valleys which bring difficulty and technicality to the course.
Today it is one of the most famous golf courses in the world, regularly visited by high level players. It hosted the Johnnie Walker Classic, of which Tiger Woods even won a round in 1998. There are two 18-hole courses.

On the Canyon Course championship course, par 72 of 6,565 metres, hole 17, a par 3, has been designated among the 500 best holes in the world. The Lakes Course, a par 72 of 6,519 meters, is a little simpler and has numerous water hazards since 17 of the 18 holes have one.

The 13th hole of the canyon course is nicknamed the Tiger Hole, after Tiger Woods. It is a gaping canyon that requires exceptional transportation to set up your approach. The only alternative is to play away from the green, leaving a steep slope of 150 meters or more to the green. Many balls were lost for the depth of the canyon as players tried to replicate the champion's moves.

Heading For The South Of The Island

As you continue your golfing journey to the south of the island, you will find some unbelievable playgrounds, starting with Laguna Phuket, which is located near the Bang Tao Bay, along the Andaman Sea. It offers 18 holes, par 71 of 6,189 meters long. The beginner golfers will find the greens big and welcoming to their taste. The challenge resides in the last two holes, both par 5 of almost 600 meters long.

The Loch Palm Golf Club, an 18-hole, par 72 of 5,790 meters, is a charming course ideally located a few minutes by car from Phuket city and Patong beach. It is accessible to all. The main attraction of this very rugged course is Crystal Lake, the largest water lake for a golf course in Phuket. The first holes border the lake, while the last nine holes are played close to the hills. Hole 14 is a par 3 downhill to the green surrounded by water on three sides and requires high dexterity.

Then go on to perfect your swing at the Red Mountain Golf Club, an 18-hole, par 72 of 6,400 metres, located in Kathu. It's named after the ochre rocks found all around the fairways.

Winding its way through the rugged landscape of a former tin mine, the Red Mountain course offers a variety of captivating games that are in tune with nature. It has quickly become one of the best golf courses in Asia, being ranked in the top 10 in Thailand and top 20 in Asia.

The Phuket Country Club, The Oldest Golf Course On The Island.

Located between Phuket Town and Patong Beach, you will find the Phuket Country Club. Created in 1989, it is the oldest golf course in Phuket.
This 27-hole golf course is actually made up of two courses, on one side, the Country Club Course, a 9-hole, par 37 of 3 270 meters and on the other, the Old Course of 18 holes, par 72 of 5 928 meters.

Its signature hole, n°10, a par 5 of 510 meters, is one of the most surprising holes you will ever see. It is a straight dog leg that winds around a large lake and a one-shot green. To make it, you'll have to aim 90 degrees to the right of the fairway and carry your ball 220 metres above the water. Fill up with balls before you start, you may need them.
