Brrrrr. Winter’s a drag isn’t it? Long, chilly nights and the need to wear itchy, lumpy clothes. Most of us can’t wait for the warmer weather of spring. And many of us are eager to book our breaks after coming out of hibernation, blinking into the sunshine...
In our view, Spring can be just as good as summer for a break, if not more so. Just look at the benefits: quieter tourist attractions and manageable heat, plus lots of fun activities for the whole family. We’ve selected the best locations to visit for a spring holiday to remember.

Scuba diving in Sicily

Sicily is known for its Roman ruins and beautiful hillsides. But did you also know there are some stunning diving hot spots in Sicily? Spring is perfect for immersing yourself in the warmer sea temperatures whilst experiencing the amazing underwater scenery, from the beautiful Kalura beneath a Byzantine tower to La Roche Ivre named after a boat that sank with a hold full of wine.
During late spring and early summer, the coast around Sicily is home to a great variety of fish and octopus, and even the occasional underwater archaeological treasure. If diving isn’t your thing then Sicily has plenty more on offer. When you’re not making the most of the history or the amazing cuisine, you can always just put a towel down on the beach and read a good book.

Ancient history in Greece

Yammas everyone. Greece is great for those looking for good weather, food, history and adventure. World-famous Greek archaeological sites make the myths of Greek gods and goddesses much more exciting than a dusty old history book. Explore the Parthenon on the Acropolis, the Sanctuary of Apollo in Delphi, and the site of the famous last stand of 300 Spartans at Thermopylae.
Spring is the perfect time to avoid the masses of tourists and price hikes around historical areas, and you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing what to do next. You’ll probably find us at a local tavern and the ouzos are on us.

Take a break in Turkey

Turkey’s a country for all seasons. The pleasant temperature means that it’s a location popular with those looking to get away as spring approaches. Relax and unwind by the pool in our Bodrum resort, or soak up the cosmopolitan wonders and cultural attractions in Istanbul, especially the astounding Hagia Sophia. Plus, sunny weather means you can go exploring without a jacket. Perfect.

Hike in Japan

Japan features highly on many travellers’ bucket lists, with its rich heritage and many tourist attractions. Spring is a beautiful time to take in the seasonal cherry blossom. The Japanese mark this particular time of year as a symbolic event by holding flower parties. Add to this the amazing food, drink and cities and you’ve got yourself a highly Instagrammable break.
Here comes the sun. So why not swap your summer break for a spring getaway this year, trying out some of our favourite destinations and activities? You could even save a little money by choosing a package deal for one of these delightful experiences.

Ride the slides in Florida

Leave the winter woolies at home. Florida benefits from a tropical climate and offers good temperatures all year round. Spring is a great time to visit, as holidaymakers can avoid the stormy summer showers and higher humidity, making it pleasant for seeing the sights of Orlando or Miami. Along with the many theme parks, Florida’s waterparks offer a fun day out for both kids and adults, from the popular Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach to the baby-friendly Sailfish Splash Waterpark and teen favourite Rapids Water Park. Children enjoy the super slides while adults relax in the lazy river or on a sun lounger. Of course, there’s nothing to stop you from having a go on the slides too.
