If you want the freedom to snowboard in big, white vistas then you’ll love Tignes. The terrain is incredibly varied, full of interesting bumps and lumps that give you the chance to try something special on your board. An impressive array of terrain parks includes Europe’s largest halfpipe and a free airbag in Tignes Val Claret. Separate learner areas allow everyone to master proper freestyle techniques.

Top 8 snowboarding resorts
Snowboarding is still a relatively young sport and it wasn’t until the 1970s that it started to become accepted at major ski resorts. Nowadays, ski-ers and snowboarders happily share the same slopes and both sports are loved by millions around the world.
If you’re looking for places to snowboard then it’s always wise to do some research first to ensure you’ll be warmly welcomed and there are plenty of places to have fun and practice your tricks. We’ve picked out eight of our favourite Club Med snowboarding resorts.
Club Med's resort in Alpe d'Huez is also one of the most exciting. Jump on the massive two-stage Grandes Rousses gondola and get ready to tackle the 16km Sarenne run – the longest black piste in Europe. Make it to the end with flair and give yourself a pat on the back. For the less experienced there are plenty of group lessons available to discover the joys of life on the board.
When Italy meets France something special happens. La Rosiere is the scene of historical moments including Hannibal on his elephant marching towards Rome. You’ll love the ‘Espace San Bernardo’ ski area where 160 km of slopes are available for your snowboarding pleasure. Take in the joys of the Tarentaise valley as you try out runs that suit all abilities and a resort that offers the best in Alpine holiday experiences.
Club Med's first Exclusive Collection resort located in the mountains Val d'Isère is the home to a championship level ski slope that regularly hosts major competitions. That means it’s a great place for the experienced snowboarder to test their skills. In addition, the Vanoise national park is a top snowboarding destination and you’ll also be able to easily find an ESF instructor who can help you reach peak performance amongst the natural splendour.
The iconic Mont Blanc is your neighbour at Les Arcs Panorama, this chic resort has truly stunning view. A snow park and boardercross means snowboarders have plenty of bespoke spaces to get active, under the watchful eye of a professional instructor if needed. Looking for a big challenge? The 2,000 vertical drop of the infamous ’Aiguille Rouge’ should give you all the thrills you’re seeking
Looking for sunshine to go with your snowboarding? There’s around 300 days of it at Serre-Chevalier making it a great place to faceplant without worrying about the cold afterwards. The scenery is wonderful as you slide in and out of the larch tree and take on over 250km of slopes. Keep your eye on your technique though as there are plenty of exciting bumps to be tackled. If you've got kids then this is a great place to give them lessons in your favourite winter sport.
Val Thorens
At 2,300 metres, Val Thorens is high altitude snowboarding at its best. The local snowpark here has been designed for freestyle lovers and those seeking an adrenaline rush. You’ll spend many hours launching yourself off the Jump Air to pull that Instagrammable trick. Even indoors you can get your thrills from the challenging indoor climbing wall.
