Padel

What is it?

Padel, also called paddeltennis was officially created in Mexico in 1969, but it was not until 1974 that the first padel club was created in Marbella, Spain. A mixture of tennis and squash, this sport is played 2 against 2, ideal for spending quality time with family, on a field of 20x10m (<>/<> less than an ordinary tennis court) surrounded by glass. In squash, it is accepted to bounce the ball on the walls of the court. One of the advantages of padel, whether you are beginners or experienced players, it remains a sport for all where the first reflexes are acquired very quickly.

Where did it all begin?

If the fashion of padel is recent, this sport was invented in the 1970s by Enrique Corcuera, a Mexican entrepreneur passionate about tennis. Except that he did not have the place to install a court in his garden. Rather creative and determined to practice his passion at home, the man built a 20 by 10 meters surrounded by walls to protect the greenhouse adjoining it. And that's how padel was born! Nearly fifty years later, there are more than 25 million players worldwide. In short, all that's missing is you.

Everyone is welcome at Club Med

The first reason why padel has become so popular is because this sport is accessible to everyone. It is an easy-to-access discipline in which the first reflexes are acquired very quickly. Whether you are young, senior, in great shape or a little rusty, everyone can hold a padel racket without complex. No concrete reason not to get started as soon as the opportunity presents itself. So remember to keep a pair of sports shoes and shorts in your bag, you never know.
