A holiday in Cherating is perfect for those who are looking for a laid back and fun time away from the chaotic city life. Located in the east coast of Malaysia, Cherating has everything that you may look for in a holiday: beautiful beaches, lush greenery, pristine waters, and fun nature activities. Whether you want to immerse yourself in the tranquility of the lapping waves or have an exciting day out with your family, there’s something for everyone here.

Here is a 3-day itinerary guide for all visitors to Cherating which comprises a little bit of everything!

Day 1: Explore the resort and surrounding area

Your first day at Cherating should be spent on checking out the surrounding area and taking time to settle in especially if you’ve travelled from far to get here. That does not mean it has to be a boring first day, though! If you are staying at Club Med Cherating Beach, this is the best time to explore the many activities on offer for guests such as archery, treetop adventure, kayaking and sailing. If you want something relaxing, head to the pool or the beachside bar and enjoy the chill vibe of Cherating!

After dinner, head to the night market nearby to take in the sights and sounds of the local life and enjoy strolling through the brightly lit stalls. Here you can find souvenirs, fruits, street food, toys and so much more. Walk around at your own pace and soak in the vibe of a truly authentic Malaysian experience!

Day 2: Water sports, turtle hatching and fireflies

The second day is where the fun really is. After settling in, this is when you have the most energy so head out and have fun! You can start the day with some water sports adventure with sea scooters or jet skis and take this opportunity to be out in the open water.

After a tiring morning, unwind a little at the Turtle Sanctuary next to Club Med Cherating Beach and learn more about the turtle conservation efforts in Cherating. This sanctuary has an exhibition area as well as baby turtles that are newly-hatched and ready to be returned to the sea. You can also partake in the baby turtles’ release to really be part of the conservation efforts, and this is a great way to educate kids as well! Turtle hatching and watching is a must do activity in Cherating so be sure to slot that in your itinerary whenever you can.

Another unique sight in Cherating is the mangrove river where you can see the mystical jungle world that is quite different from the usual hiking expedition in the forest. Head out to either the mangrove river cruise to observe the lives of the flora and fauna from a boat cruising down the river, or opt for the fireflies tour at night. You will get to see these magical creatures adorning the trees making them look like Christmas trees in the silence of the pitchblack night. Truly an unforgettable experience!

Day 3: Nature walk and mines

On your last day in Cherating, you can opt for something adventurous or just spend time relaxing at the beach. For something adventurous, head to the Taman Negara National Park which is home to beautiful tropical rainforest, tigers, macaques and the rafflesia plant (biggest flower in the world). Your day will be packed with activities like canopy walks, jungle trekking and even a visit to an aboriginal village.

For something slightly less time intensive, you can visit the Sungai Lembing mines which is located about an hour from Club Med Cherating Beach. Here, you will find one of the deepest mines in the world and even get to sit in the minecart to experience what it was like to be working in the mine. Be sure to also check out the local town and markets nearby after the mine tour!

Some of these activities are offered to our guests at Club Med Cherating Beach, where we specialise in all-inclusive holidays for those who are looking for a fuss-free stay. Say goodbye to hectic planning before and during a trip, and let us pamper you on your well-deserved holiday.
